WHO WE HELP

'There is no minimum or maximum size of organisation we support, what defines if we work with you is, can we offer you appropriate support.'

We work with most forms of organisations which are “not for profit”, put simply this means that if you make a surplus at the end of the year it is not paid to directors or the management committee, it stays in the organisation.

If you don’t have a constitution or set of rules we can help you put together your basic requirements.

There is no minimum or maximum size of organisation we support, what defines if we work with you is, can we offer you appropriate support.

Local activities

Ashford Place is based in Brent, North West London,  they are a well established organisation which offer support under the themes of; Homes, Inclusion, Health and Well Being. Brent is highly multi-cultural and as well as running activities for older Irish people they support many from immigrant backgrounds.

They had plans to open a series of dementia cafes which took peoples culture and background into consideration.  Working together we identified an appropriate funder and jointly developed a successful application for £99,000.  This was achieved through sharing our understanding and experience.

Irish Network Stevenage runs a number of activities which promotes independence, helping people to stay in their home and reducing isolation.  We were approached when their core funding was due to run out within eight months.  We built our understanding of their needs and jointly developed a successful funding application for £48,000.  This was secured in time to enable them to continue their activities for the following three years.

SanKTus is a homeless project based in Kentish Town.  They run in the local parish rooms and offer support for the homeless, and also run activities for the aged and isolated.  We are asked to support when they suffered a large unexpected cut in their funding.  After a our first meeting we were able jointly identify the needs in the area, this helped us develop funding applications. We secured a total of over £80,000 which included funding for a volunteer coordinator and kitchen assistant.

Woodhouse and District Community Forum is based in a deprived residential area of Sheffield.  The forum runs health and educational projects to help people improve their economic and physical well being.  We helped identify the need in the area, and built understanding of the responses required.  Working together we secured £298,000 for five posts over a four year period, this enabled the Forum to continue and concentrate on its core work.

Irish Community Care Manchester has provided support for the most disadvantaged Irish people in their area for many years.  They asked us to review the needs of their clients and the best way they could respond to this. We used national research alongside talking to many service users and stakeholders.  Alongside the report we produced we secured funding for a business plan. ICCN is now in the process of revising services based on the information provided.
